Although I have had Dalmatians since I was twelve years old. I did not get involved in showing or breeding until I was about eighteen. I bought my first conformation Dalmatian in 2000 from Angie Henderson (HiSpot Dalmatians). I met, my now very dear friend Angie, through a mutual friend that knew I was interested in a nice quality Dalmatian. I loved the two Dalmatians I had at the time, but wanted to have a Dalmatian that could be shown in the conformation ring. That is how Journey (CH HiSpot's Magical Journey CGC) came into my life. I was only eighteen at the time and I am forever grateful that Angie took a chance on a young girl. Who was very interested in learning what it takes to be a good caretaker and breeder of this breed that we both love so much. Through my Dalmatians I have met some of my dearest friends and have traveled all over the country.
Since then, I have grown up, bought my first home in 2005. I also bought a small business, Pampered Pets (a pet grooming shop), in 2006. My two older Dalmatians that I had most of my childhood have passed away. Others have come into my life. Some have been born here at Dreamworks. My love and dedication to this breed has grown. I have since bred two litters. I bred my first litter in 2005. Journey (CH HiSpot's Magical Journey CGC) x Tanner (BIS BISS CH Tramac Joyride'n with Spotlite). From this litter I kept Envy (Am/INT CH Dreamworks You're Just Jealous). In 2007 I bred Journey one more time to Trapper (BIS CH Tramac's Trapped in Mystic). From this litter I kept Sahara (Dreamworks Epic Journey) and Sky (AM CH/Int RBIS CH Dreamworks Been Around The World).
Dreamworks is the kennel name that all the Dalmatians bred or owned by me are registered under. It is much like a brand that identifies where a particular Dalmatian belongs to or came from.
Dreamworks consists of a small number of Dalmatians that I and a few friends of mine show in conformation and hopefully performance events in the future. All my Dalmatians are family members first and show dogs second. Showing my dogs is just a way for me to enjoy spending time with my dogs. I enjoy traveling to the shows, meeting up with great friends and enjoying this sport with them. I am very proud of each and every one of my dogs! Even the ones that never set foot in a show ring. On this site you will find tons of pictures and information not just about my Dalmatians that show in conformation but my extended family. There are pictures of every Dalmatian born here at Dreamworks with their new family's. Along with tons of updates and fun things to read about.
Breeding Philosophy:
I am also very dedicated to the future of this breed. I breed a litter every once in a while when I am ready to add another member to my family, and generation to my breeding program. Years of thought and planning occur before I ever breed a litter. All Dalmatians used in my breeding program must above all have outstanding temperaments. Have all their health clearances, and be sound in conformation before they are ever considered for breeding. I do my very best to make sure that the Dalmatians I help bring into this world have the best chances possible to live long, healthy, happy lives.
All Dalmatians born here at Dreamworks are raised in my home. Early socialization, after careful screening of their parents, is the key to a good tempered loving family pet. Because I own and operate a grooming salon I have a great tool that allows the puppies to get tons of socialization. They get to spend all day several times a week meeting and greeting everyone that comes in the shop. Not just with other dogs, of many different breeds and sizes, but also with all kinds of people. This is one of the best tools to getting the puppies off to a great start. This helps make adjusting to their new homes much easier. They settle in quicker and easier because new things are a norm for them. By doing this and many other things, it helps get every puppy as well balanced as possible by the time they are ready to join their forever homes
You as a pet owner:
The work doesn't stop there. It is up to their new families to continue the socialization that has already started, with their new puppy. Having any dog is a life long job of growing and learning together. It is up to you as the puppies new owner to make sure you are the leader and always teaching your dog what it is you expect of them. Once you have a Dreamworks Dalmatian you become part of our family. We are here to help you and your new family member do just this. We want you both to live a happy and long life together. Getting a dog, no matter what the breed or mix it is, is a commitment of 12-15 years with that animal. We are here to make sure you have all the help you need. To make sure you and your Dalmatian have all the tools needed to make those years wonderful.
